Let me first clarify. I never enjoyed running. I'm not sure that I can even say that I enjoy it now. But there is something to be said about it. I think REAL runners are crazy amazing. I DO. I will never be the crazy girl that runs 26.2 miles. Next year I have a goal to do the half, and if ever there's an inspiration-THIS CAUSE right here can do it for me. I know it can. And I knew that 5 months ago, my "running" was going to continue because I can do it right now. So I did.
For those of you that don't know what this is all about yet and For those of you who read this but are not friends with me on facebook (does anyone else read this, besides my family and friends anymore?) : ) Regardless if people really read this outside of friends and family, i more so do this as a documentation in our families life, and for Ry and Ez. I cannot let this day go undocumented.
I really wish TEAM CORZINE never had to be created, but because this is what's in the cards for our family right now-this is what we do. We come together and do what we can for those we love! My uncle Steve who is in his very early 50's was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer this past sumnmer. YUP. He and my aunt will celebrate 25 years of marriage this November, and 2 daughters one in college, one in high school and a family that adores him and their family is dealing with this nightmare right now. They live in New Jersey, and it's not exactly ideal that we're so far from them, especially right now. From this far away-we put together a team of 17 "runners". Some say they would run if only a big dog was chasing them, some randomly run 10-12 miles on a regular day of the week, some just knew they wanted to do this because they care- That was every single one of us. Ryan and my brother completed their first half marathon, and then 15 of us formed 3 marathon relay teams. The not so "great" part of TEAM CORZINE and the Penn State shirts, is that many of us are big Michigan fans, the week prior, Michigan was handed their first Big Ten loss by Penn State. For Uncle Steve, I would wear that shirt 100x over-I was ok with that loss. He's a big time fan of Penn State, and we've taken many wins away from them in the past, this one was for him-that's FOR SURE.
What I really wanted to do in this blog post is- to shout from the roof tops, to all of YOU that rallied with us and are praying and supporting our family in this difficult time. THANK YOU to all of you that donated to TEAM CORZINE! We were able to send them a very nice donation to help with medical expenses, and anything else that's needed during this time! We know that money can't take away what's going on right now, but at this point-anything helps! My parents and aunt had gone to visit last weekend and took them the donation, a photo book I put together of our day, and TEAM CORZINE t shirts! They were blown away-so we thank you thank you thank you over and over. He seems to be feeling pretty good right now, and to be honest-ANY positive news we get-we are thankful for. Please continue to keep the Kelly family in your prayers! MUCH LOVE and again-we ALL THANK YOU!!!!!
